LIGHTHOUSE Initiatives
Apart from the usual creative works for clients, Lighthouse remains engaged with various in-house projects in its free time. The team mates who are passionate about society, culture, tradition, art, anthropology and literature work and produce videos and stories through a website, YouTube channel. They also hold events, discussions and exhibitions; organises film festival, publish books and photo documentations.
FLARES is an attempt to endorse Odisha’s art, literature, cinema, and music related works. It illustrates the idea of Old is gold. It records interviews of veteran artists, public figures and legends and archive them for future generation. FLARES’s Moods & Melodies is a popular series of tasteful renditions of old Odia music that is adored and loved by a class of audience. Currently, three projects have been taken up and being produced through YouTube channel.
During times of negativity, distress and occupied life, inspiring Odisha shares stories that are more than life to the people from the heart of Odisha. It features bilingual text and video stories of courage, struggle and success from the different corners of Odisha to inspire and bring a positivity among the readers. Tales of idea, innovation, and empowerment – Inspiring Odisha aims to bring a daily dose of inspiration for the world.
A short film festival – IGNITE was organized with a noble aspiration to promote and encourage young filmmakers, storytellers and creative individuals who have a knack for storytelling. IGNITE is a theme-based film festival which encircles films based on various social, political and humanist issues that have the potential to bring a difference in society and thinking process.
A good photo tells thousands of words to its audience. It freezes the particular moment which becomes a permanent memory. Lighthouse, as a creative institution, has always been active in creating and nurturing an artistic atmosphere in the city. Lighthouse has been organizing a photography exhibition with the name ‘TIMESCAPES’ and invites photographs from thousands of the creative talents of Odisha and outside as well as from the newer aspirants to explore the subjects, events and issues that surround us to preserve, sensitize and evoke reactions from the citizens.
